Serving at Grace
“What use is
it, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but he has no works?
Can that faith save him?” (James 2:14)
Scripture tells us
that faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is an active faith. The Faith
that Jesus preached is one of giving up an old life for the
promises that await those who would willingly and joyfully follow
Him and serve others in His name.
Marion Grace
Brethren Church seeks to prepare those to whom it ministers for
service outside the confines of the church. Our hope is that none
would be content with the limited blessing that comes from
worshipping on Sunday morning only, but with continuing with
personal prayer and service throughout the week. Opportunities
abound for assisting in practically any area of Christian outreach
within our body of believers.
Consider praying
about what gifts the Lord has given you and begin there. Certainly
each of us realizes that “with God, all things are possible”, so
don’t be content to limit yourself to service in areas that are
naturally easy for you. Consider trusting the Lord to move you to
areas that will require developing a talent you are not naturally
drawn towards. By doing so, you will be required to learn from
those with that gift and you will grow up to that new ability
through the grace of the Lord and through fellowship with others
in this body of His. Pray about this and listen for your
challenge. With willing ears, you will hear His voice of
direction.
“And He gave
some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists,
and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints
for works of service, to the building up of the body of Christ.”
(Ephesians 4:11-12)
